Science Media Centre Malaysia is an information resource centre aimed at promoting accurate and evidence-based reporting especially on complex or controversial science issues in the media. We connect journalists to credible and articulate scientists from across various research fields. We also help scientists to communicate their research effectively and ultimately make science mainstream and accessible to the public.

Biography

Lavanya Rama Iyer is WWF-Malaysia’s Director of Policy and Climate Change. She represents the organisation in national and international engagements on Climate Change, Biodiversity, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes active participation in various governmental committees and task forces. She is also the Co-Chair of the Malaysian CSO-SDG Alliance, comprising 90 civil society organisations, which is advocating for the adoption of Beyond GDP indicators in Malaysia to accelerate SDG implementation. She is passionate about ensuring that nature’s contributions which underpins everything are properly recognised and valued by society, and integrated into development and economic agendas.
